My Blogger Buddy EpiJunky got a new Blackberry, so this led me to post up a little “advice” for her! Her goes…..
So I’ve had be BlackBerry Curve 8330 for about a year now, and honestly, like most CrackBerry users–I’m addicted. I very much doubt I could survive 30 minutes without it, let alone a day.
That being said I have spent almost the entirety of the last year trying to figure out which apps are perfect for ME and my phone. There are a few good resources out there, but the Best is the Crackberry.com Forum and App Store(you have to register, but the advantage is you can send the apps by text straight to your phone). Not as purdy as the BB App store, but much, much better.
So…. here goes, in no particular order:
Google Talk and MSN Messenger from Blackberry(mobile.blackberry.com click on social networking and IM) both FREE
They both run flawlessly and integrate to your profiles perfectly.
Beyond411 Local Search. Now this is most certainly not as pretty as some options, but very functional. Enter in an address for home, work and “other”. Open up the program and select where you are and start typing. It works quickly and while not elegant, it gives very quick results. FREE
Viigo RSS reader. Pretty. A little slower because of this, but very user friendly. You can do anything from set up craigslist alerts to general RSS.
FML for Blackberry. A BB app for the infamous fmylife.com Pointless but makes me smile!
Facebook! If it isn’t on your phone, just download from mobile.blackberry.com for the official!
BlackBerry Messenger! Free, comes loaded on all new devices. I’d die without it…(if you have a BB PIN shoot it over to me at medicthree@gmail.com)
UberTwitter much, much better than TwitterBerry. Updates coming all the time!
QuickPull v2(Beta) Allows you to schedule your phone to restart. Your BB is a computer! You need to do this and it will improve speed and battery life!
YouMail Visual Voicemail. Youmail works by intercepting your messages(with a custom greeting that either you set or you use the computer voice and it greets your callers by name). It has a ton of pay features but the free one automatically downloads the messages to your phone(phone memory or memory card) and then you can play at your convenience. I love this. The BEST part is you can play from your computer! YouMail.com
Blackberry Maps. Comes with your phone. Best mapping out there plus will do driving directions if ya need ‘em!
That sums up what I got going for now! I always try out a few new apps and these are the only ones that have stood the test of time. Let me know if ya gots questions!
